EVANGELICALS is our first name.  It's been our first name since Evangelicals Concerned was founded in 1975.  But just as nobody should naively buy into whatever might be presented in the anti-gay or pro-gay press about "the gay agenda", "the gay lifestyle" or everything that passes in a Pride Parade, nobody should naively buy into whatever might be presented in the anti-gay or pro-gay press about evangelicals. The word, "evangelical", is not a synonym for the Religious Right or its homophobia.

"Evangelical" comes from the New Testament term for "Good News" -- euanggelion.

Here's how the Apostle Paul summed up this Good News:

"God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, not counting people's sins against them.  And God has entrusted us with this message of reconciliation." (II Corinthians 5:19).

Therefore, as Paul said in Romans 8:

"Nothing in all creation can ever separate us from God's love in Christ Jesus our Lord."

That's Good News!  It's the best news the world has ever received! Nothing -- including one's homosexuality or even anti-gay religionists -- will ever be able to separate anyone from God's love in Christ Jesus.  That's God's evangelical word in the Bible.  And that's why, grateful to God, we're Evangelicals Concerned.
